On this wet Memorial Day weekend in Henderson County, let's pause for a few minutes and reflect on the more than 1.1 million service men and women who have lost their lives during wars, from the Revolutionary War through the current conflict. They sacrificed everything for our democracy.

We owe them more than our remembrance and gratitude. We owe them our action.

While most of us can't become soldiers, we can fight for our democracy each and every day.  With the mid-term elections coming up fast, it's time we all get involved. Make a donation to a candidate, volunteer for a few hours, put up a yard sign. And most importantly, prepare to protect your right to vote and VOTE in November.
