📣 Action Alert: Uphold the Veto of Senate Bill 382! 📣

Updated: Dec 12, 2024

The North Carolina General Assembly is putting politics ahead of people in the wake of Hurricane Helene. Instead of prioritizing relief efforts for survivors, Senate Bill 382 has been loaded with provisions that serve as a massive power grab. These changes reach far beyond hurricane recovery, targeting elections, the judiciary, the attorney general’s office, and more.

Governor Cooper stood up for North Carolina by vetoing SB 382 on November 26—but now an override vote looms, and we must act. This is our moment to ensure that recovery comes first, not political gamesmanship.

🌀 Take Action Now:

Help us demand a response that truly supports Western North Carolina's recovery.

1️⃣ Contact your NC House and Senate representatives.

2️⃣ Urge them to vote to SUSTAIN the governor's veto of SB 382.

3️⃣ Demand a hurricane relief package that directly helps those harmed by Hurricane Helene, without political strings attached.

Three Republican State Representatives have already shown courage by voting against SB 382 originally:

  • Mark Pless

  • Karl Gillespie

  • Mike Clampitt

We need to encourage them to stay strong and uphold the governor’s veto. Their votes are critical to stopping this harmful legislation.

We cannot allow the needs of hurricane survivors to be used as pawns in a political scheme. Your voice matters. Make it count today!
