Democratic Women's Luncheon a Huge Success

The tables filled Grand Old Hall in Flat Rock with almost 150 enthusiastic Democrats at the Democratic Women of Henderson County's luncheon on Oct. 12.  Applause, shouts, and a standing ovation greeted Chief Justice Cheri Beasley, U. S. Senatorial candidate.  She spoke with candor and grace to the crowd about our common goal of protecting democracy in our country by electing Democrats.  She was introduced by Buncombe County Commissioner Jasmine Beach-Ferrera, U.S. Congressional candidate from District 11, following Beach-Ferrera's rousing speech that brought the crowd to their feet.  The Mae Alexander award, the DWHC's highest honor, was presented to Princess Ferguson and Jessica Stepp Edney was applauded for her Star award presented at the NC Democratic Women Convention in Greensboro in September.  Funds raised at the luncheon will be used for the Get out the Vote (GOTV) effort through a monthly donation to Henderson County Democratic party GOTV, as well as donations to candidates, postcard campaigns, and other efforts by DWHC members.  DWHC is open to Democratic women and unaffiliated women who share our ideals.
