Sing Out the Vote: An Afternoon of Music, Activism, and Community Support

On Saturday, April 27th, the Burning Blush Brewery in Mills River became more than just a venue for beer enthusiasts—it transformed into a hub of activism and community engagement as around 250 individuals gathered for Sing Out the Vote. This vibrant event, spearheaded by musician and activist Annie Wenz, echoed with melodies of democratic spirit and civic responsibility.

Annie Wenz, a passionate Hendersonville resident, orchestrated this gathering to leverage the power of music in support of Democratic principles and candidates. Drawing upon her talents and determination, she curated a diverse lineup of performances ranging from bluegrass to folk, poetry, and beyond. Local artists, resonating with the cause, generously donated their time and talent to grace the stage, infusing the evening with soul-stirring melodies and impassioned verses.

Between sets, the spotlight shifted to local and state candidates who seized the opportunity to articulate their visions for the future. Their messages echoed the core values upheld by the event: the significance of robust public education, the imperative of reproductive freedom, and the need for representatives who will unwaveringly champion the interests of the community.

Sing Out the Vote was not merely a concert; it was a rallying cry for civic engagement and political participation. Attendees, volunteers, candidates, and performers alike congregated with a shared mission—to amplify the voices of the marginalized, uphold democratic ideals, and effect positive change in their communities.

The impact of this collective effort reverberated far beyond the confines of the brewery. Through ticket sales, merchandise, and generous donations, Sing Out the Vote galvanized over $5,250 in support of Get Out the Vote initiatives in Henderson County. This financial infusion will fuel ongoing efforts to mobilize voters, foster civic awareness, and ensure that every voice is heard in the democratic process.

Sing Out the Vote stands as a testament to the power of unity, artistry, and activism. It exemplifies how a harmonious fusion of music and advocacy can ignite transformative action and foster a stronger, more inclusive democracy. As the echoes of the performances fade into memory, the spirit of solidarity and civic duty ignited at Burning Blush Brewery continues to reverberate, inspiring individuals to embrace their roles as active participants in shaping the future of their communities and their nation.
