Those Crazy MAGA Republicans
In an email to Republican voters, the NC Republican 11th Congressional District Chairwoman admitted, “I spend too much time with Republican on Republican fighting.”
Their internal squabbles have been on full display over the past six months. The Chairwoman accused a male member of the Henderson County Republican Board of harassing women at a recent party meeting, and one woman even accused the Henderson County party chair of assault. Things escalated to the point that sheriff’s deputies were called to referee one of their meetings.
In Buncombe County, the male Republican Chair was actually charged with assaulting a female school board member. Yet, the state GOP refused to act.
Doesn’t this seem like an out-of-control political party with an unhealthy lack of respect for women? Toxic masculinity at its worst?
In contrast, Democrats respect and welcome all women as full participants in the political process, without harassment, assault, or the need for police intervention at Democratic Party meetings.
The Republican Party District 11 Chair’s email also stated:
“If you are a registered Republican—your mission is clear—VOTE FOR ALL REPUBLICANS ON YOUR BALLOT.”
“I don’t care if you don’t like them.”
“I don’t care if they hurt your feelings.”
Notice there’s no mention of party values or platform here. Are Republican voters encouraged to assess their candidates by principles or plans for moving North Carolina forward? Or are Republican leaders simply expecting their voters to mindlessly march in lockstep to the polls?
No wonder the national and state Republican ticket is dominated by swamp creatures. Republican leadership appears unconcerned with the quality of their candidates.
