We all have favorite songs and least-favorite songs. As I was waiting for an oil change at the dealership the other day, one of my least favorite songs came on — John Mayer’s “Waiting on the World to Change.”
Despite its catchy tune and Mayer’s sultry voice, there’s something that has always bothered me about this song.
Why should we wait for the world to change?
If we want the world to change, we need to actively work to make the world change.
Look what’s happening in these first few months of the Trump administration. His team is actively changing the world. We can’t afford to sit back and wait for it to change — or wait for someone else to step up and fight back.
We have to start acting now.
Many people have said it: Democracy is not a spectator sport.
You don’t have to quit your job and spend every waking moment fighting for what you believe in. But can you spare 10 minutes a day?
Ready? Here Are Some Ways to Get Started:
🛑 Boycotts
Several retailers and companies that have rolled back their DEI initiatives have been hit by boycotts.Learn more by searching “boycotts.”A recent Guardian poll showed that 20% of Americans plan to avoid companies aligning with Trump’s agenda.

“The purpose... is to bring like-minded people together into resistance networks; to attract publicity that will draw new people into the movement; and... to alert other politicians that failing to oppose Trump will cost them support.”— The New Republic, Timothy Noah, March 27, 2025

We Can’t Afford to Wait for Change
If we don’t start doing something now, the MAGA and Project 2025 crowd will only grow more entrenched — and it will be even harder to undo the damage they’re doing. Both nationally and right here at home.
So — do something.
