Voter Protection
Our Mission
NCDP and HCDP believe, and the voter protection team works to create and support our county where:
-
Every eligible NC voter should have meaningful access to cast their ballot conveniently
-
When a voter registers and casts their ballot, they should have a welcoming, positive experience
-
County Board of Elections and elections offices should work for voters - making the process smooth and easy to understand.
How We Work
You! When you volunteer to do poll work during early voting:
-
Inside observers who watch and report on the election process. (Democrats only)
-
Roaming/at-large observers to come to the assistance of the above or voters. (Democrats only)
-
Outside poll greeters who offer voters information and a welcome. (Democrats or Unaffiliated voters)
When you volunteer to do poll work on election day:
-
Inside observers who watch and report on the election process. (Democrats only)
-
Roaming/at-large observers to come to the assistance of the observers, greeters, or voters (Democrats)
NOTE: Outside poll greeters on election day are chosen and assigned by the precinct chairs. PLUS: Notaries for absentee/mail-in ballots. Rides to the polls—training for the observers and poll greeters.
